About the business

Innova Search has been exclusively retained to partner with a growing, multi-site Australian retail business with operations across Perth and Melbourne.

The business has an established internal technology function spanning day-to-day operations, infrastructure, cyber, data and AI, alongside a separate development and digital delivery team.

As the organisation continues to grow, it is bringing these capabilities together under one technology strategy, with clear ownership, accountability and direction.

The opportunity

This is a broad technology leadership role with responsibility for the full technology remit across a fast-growing, multi-site business.

Reporting directly to the COO, you will have genuine authority to set the technology strategy, determine investment priorities and provide explicit, commercially grounded advice to the senior leadership team.

You will lead an established, highly capable team of nine across operations, infrastructure, development and service delivery. The team is well-regarded, trusted and already delivers at a high level.

The opportunity is not to come in and rebuild what works. It is to provide structure, clarity and ownership while protecting the culture, trust and pace that have helped the business get to where it is today.

What you'll own

Technology strategy

- Set the technology roadmap across operations, infrastructure, cyber, data and development, making clear commercial recommendations on where to invest, where to prioritise and where to hold.

Operations & infrastructure

- Own service delivery, infrastructure, cloud and key vendor relationships, ensuring the existing operation continues to perform as the business scales.

Development & digital delivery





- Partner with the established development team responsible for customer-facing products, connecting technology delivery directly to commercial and business outcomes.

Security & risk

- Strengthen the organisation's cybersecurity posture, governance and risk framework, with formal security readiness a clear priority.

Team leadership

- Lead a capable, close-knit team through an evolution in leadership and accountability. Establish clear ownership, documentation and decision-making structures without creating unnecessary bureaucracy.

What you'll bring

- You must have experience leading a broad technology function across operations, infrastructure and engineering within a multi-site retailer.
- Strong technical depth in a Microsoft-centric environment, without needing to be the deepest technical specialist in the room.
- The judgement and credibility to challenge senior stakeholders, including founders and owners, and clearly explain the commercial trade-offs.
- A track record of building trust within high-performing teams and introducing structure without disrupting culture.
- A practical and considered approach to AI — understanding where it can create genuine value rather than pursuing it for the sake of it.
