The Role
This role is responsible for providing expert guidance, leadership, and oversight of health and safety systems to ensure a safe working workplace, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement in safety performance across operations. The role supports and drives a proactive safety culture across site operations. Reporting directly to the General Manager – Operations this role can be based in Adelaide, with site travel, or based in Whyalla.
Key Responsibilities
Support senior management and executives with meeting statutory regulations
Maintain and improve the safety management system (SMS)
Coordinate statutory reporting requirements
Radiation safety and controls
Ensure compliance with WHS Act and regulations
Implement and verify critical controls and risk mitigation strategies
Maintain risk registers and support continuous improvement
Provide leadership in risk assessments and risk management systems
Lead investigations into incidents and high-potential events
Ensure regulatory reporting requirements are met
Conduct audits, inspections and verify corrective actions
Deliver safety training, inductions and competency support
Support site emergency preparedness, drills and response capabilities

Person Requirements
Essential Criteria
Relevant qualification in Work Health and Safety or related discipline
First Aid certified
7-10 years’ experience within mining minimum
Strong knowledge of WHS Act
Radiation Safety Officer experience
Desirable
Experience in uranium in-situ recovery operations
Experience with Donesafe safety management system
Radiation Safety experience
