About the Role

Nexus Australia Immigration is seeking a highly organised, detail-oriented and motivated Human Resources Assistant & Payroll Coordinator to join our Adelaide team.

This is a varied position combining human resources administration, recruitment support, employee lifecycle management and payroll coordination.

The successful candidate will work closely with management and employees to ensure HR processes are effectively administered, employee records are maintained accurately, and payroll activities are completed accurately and within required timeframes.

Previous hands-on payroll experience is essential for this position. The successful candidate must have demonstrated practical experience in payroll processing and payroll administration. Candidates without relevant payroll experience will not be considered.

This role is suited to an HR professional who has solid payroll knowledge, excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage confidential employee information and time-sensitive payroll activities.

Key ResponsibilitiesHuman Resources

- Provide day-to-day administrative support across the organisation's HR functions.
- Maintain accurate, confidential and up-to-date employee records and personnel files.
- Assist with recruitment activities, including preparing job advertisements, reviewing applications and coordinating interviews.
- Support candidate communication and recruitment administration.
- Assist with employee onboarding, induction and offboarding processes.
- Prepare employment contracts, letters, HR forms and other employment documentation.
- Maintain HR databases and employee information.
- Assist with leave, attendance and employee record administration.
- Respond to routine employee enquiries regarding HR processes, policies, leave and employment conditions.
- Assist with maintaining HR policies, procedures and workplace documentation.
- Coordinate employee induction,



training and professional development activities.
- Monitor employee qualifications, licences, certifications and other required documentation.
- Assist with employee performance and engagement activities.
- Prepare and maintain HR reports and workforce information.
- Support management with general HR administration and employee-related matters.
- Maintain strict confidentiality of employee and business information.

Payroll Coordination
- Coordinate and assist with the end-to-end payroll process.
- Process employee wages accurately and within required payroll deadlines.
- Collect, review and verify employee timesheets, attendance records and leave information.
- Process ordinary hours, overtime, allowances, deductions and other payroll adjustments.
- Maintain accurate employee payroll records and payroll-related documentation.
- Process payroll requirements for new starters and departing employees.
- Assist with calculating and processing employee leave entitlements.
- Assist with payroll reconciliations and investigate and resolve payroll discrepancies.
- Ensure payroll data is accurate, complete and processed within required deadlines.
- Liaise with payroll providers, accountants and relevant stakeholders where required.
- Assist with payroll-related reporting and documentation.
- Support the administration of superannuation and PAYG withholding requirements.
- Assist with maintaining payroll compliance and accurate payroll records.
- Respond to routine employee payroll enquiries.
- Maintain strict confidentiality of employee remuneration and personal information.

About You Previous payroll experience is essential for this position.

To be successful, you will have:

- Demonstrated hands-on experience in payroll processing and payroll administration — essential.
- Previous experience processing employee wages, timesheets, overtime, allowances, deductions and leave.
- Experience maintaining accurate payroll and employee records.
- Experience identifying, investigating and resolving payroll discrepancies.
- Understanding of Australian payroll processes, including PAYG withholding and superannuation.
- Experience using payroll software, HRIS or other payroll management systems.
- Previous experience in HR administration or a combined HR and payroll position.
- Strong numerical accuracy and exceptional attention to detail.
- Excellent organisational and time-management skills.
- Ability to meet strict payroll processing deadlines.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- High level of confidentiality and professionalism when handling employee information.
- Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Microsoft Excel.

Essential Requirements

Applicants must have

- Previous practical payroll processing experience.
- Experience administering employee payroll information and maintaining payroll records.
- Experience handling timesheets, leave, overtime, allowances and payroll adjustments.
- Understanding of Australian payroll requirements.
- Strong attention to detail and numerical accuracy.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive employee and remuneration information.

Applications from candidates without previous hands-on payroll experience will not be considered. Qualifications & Experience A qualification in Human Resources, Business Administration, Accounting, Payroll or a related discipline will be highly regarded.

Previous experience with Australian payroll systems and employment-related processes will be advantageous.

Experience working in a professional-services, immigration, consulting, legal, recruitment or client-services environment will also be highly regarded.
