Role: Hybrid Cloud Network Solution Designer

Key Responsibilities
Solution Design and Documentation
- Develop solution designs, integration guides, configuration specifications, cost estimates and implementation documentation.
- Create and maintain detailed network design artefacts for Corporate Network infrastructure and end-to-end connectivity services.
- Prepare technical instructions, handover templates, work-aids and operational guides for Delivery and Operations teams.
- Ensure peer review, design approval and operational acceptance are completed before implementation.
Project Delivery and Technical Governance
- Engage with business stakeholders, project managers, architects, engineers, delivery teams and operations teams to gather requirements and shape workable solutions.
- Consult with Network, Security and Application Architects and Designers to ensure integrated outcomes across platforms.
- Assist in planning and supporting network changes, including stakeholder engagement, change windows, testing, implementation and backout considerations.
- Support Solution Review Forum, Design Management, Change Approval Board and Operational Acceptance activities as required.
Platform Lifecycle, Optimisation and Technology Introduction
- Contribute to platform lifecycle plans, refresh roadmaps, standard operating environments and approved design patterns.
- Support product selection, tender technical evaluations, technical assessments, proof-of-concept testing and new technology introduction.
- Identify opportunities to rationalise, simplify and optimise platforms while maintaining resilience and security.
- Maintain awareness of vendor roadmaps, emerging technology trends and opportunities to improve service delivery.
Operational Support and Continuous Improvement
- Provide escalated third-level technical support and analysis for high-impact or complex network issues.
- Support root cause analysis and problem incident review activities for network and security incidents.
- Troubleshoot upgrade and implementation issues, including vendor escalation and follow-up actions where required.
- Capture lessons learned and feed improvements into standards, templates, implementation plans and future delivery approaches
Experience and Skills
Essential
- Information Technology, Engineering or Telecommunications degree, technical certification, or equivalent industry experience.
- Minimum 5 years of experience designing and engineering large enterprise network systems.
- Robust hands-on design and configuration experience across enterprise networking and security infrastructure.
- Expertise in LAN, WAN and Data Centre network integration techniques and enterprise design.
- Strong solution design, technical documentation, business requirements analysis and stakeholder communication skills.
- Ability to operate independently, prioritise multiple engagements and remain calm under pressure.
Highly Regarded
- Cisco networking certifications such as CCNP or CCIE.
- Vendor certifications across EfficientIP, Infoblox, Fortinet, Check Point or other major network/security vendors.
- Cloud architecture, network or security certifications across AWS, Azure or Google Cloud.
- Cybersecurity certifications such as CISSP or equivalent.
- Experience with Terraform, Ansible, GitLab, API integration and Infrastructure as Code practices.
- Experience with ServiceNow, Confluence, MS Project, Visio, monitoring, logging, packet capture and debugging tools.
