Full‑time | Workshop Leading Hand | Precision Machining

Billet Engineering is seeking an experienced and motivated Leading Hand to take charge of daily operations in our busy Machine Shop. This is a hands‑on leadership role suited to someone who takes pride in high‑quality machining, robust team coordination, and maintaining the professional standards our mining and industrial clients rely on.

About the Role The Leading Hand will oversee workflow, support a skilled team of machinists, and ensure all machining work is completed safely, efficiently, and to specification. You will be responsible for maintaining productivity, upholding quality control, and representing Billet Engineering’s commitment to reliable, precision workmanship.

Key Responsibilities

Lead and support machinists in day‑to‑day workshop operations

Coordinate job scheduling, workflow, and task allocation

Maintain high standards of machining accuracy and quality assurance

Ensure safe work practices and compliance with workshop procedures

Assist with training, mentoring, and performance development





Communicate effectively with supervisors, clients, and team members

Contribute to continuous improvement across the machine shop

About You

Trade‑qualified Machinist (or equivalent experience)

Proven experience in a machine shop or precision machining environment

Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and guide a team

High attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship

Ability to manage multiple jobs and meet deadlines

Reliable, proactive, and confident in decision‑making
