Legal Counsel

ASX-Listed Organisation | Broad Commercial & Regulatory Role | In-House An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Legal Counsel to join the legal team of a successful ASX-listed organisation. This is a broad and commercially focused in-house role, providing the opportunity to work closely with a range of business units and gain exposure across a diverse portfolio of legal and regulatory matters.

Reporting to the General Counsel, you will provide pragmatic, commercially focused legal advice and play an important role in supporting the business as it continues to grow and evolve.

The Opportunity

This is a genuinely varied role, with exposure across commercial contracts, financial services regulation, consumer credit, marketing, property, insurance, corporate governance and disputes.

You will work closely with senior stakeholders and business leaders, developing a strong understanding of their objectives and providing clear, practical advice that enables the business to achieve its commercial goals while appropriately managing legal and regulatory risk.

Your responsibilities will include:

- Providing timely, commercially focused legal advice to a range of business units.
- Advising on commercial contracts, leases, marketing and promotional agreements and sponsorship arrangements.
- Supporting corporate governance matters, including matters relating to the ASX Listing Rules.
- Advising on regulatory and compliance requirements across a range of regulatory frameworks and government bodies.
- Providing legal support in relation to consumer credit, financial services and product development.
- Reviewing loan, security and ancillary documentation to ensure legal enforceability and regulatory compliance.
- Advising on marketing collateral and consumer-facing communications, with a focus on transparent and plain-English drafting.




- Supporting the management of escalated customer and third-party complaints.
- Assisting with contentious matters and litigation
- Supporting corporate regulatory requirements and working with internal stakeholders to identify and mitigate legal and regulatory risk.
- Working with the business on product development, policies, codes and legislative training.
- Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives within the legal function and broader business.

About You

We are looking for a commercially minded lawyer who enjoys working closely with the business and can translate complex legal and regulatory issues into clear, practical advice.

You will ideally have

- A minimum of 4 years' PQE
- Strong commercial legal experience, gained either in-house or in a leading commercial law firm.
- Experience across commercial contracts and/or financial services, regulatory or consumer law.
- Excellent drafting and communication skills, including the ability to communicate complex issues in plain English.
- A pragmatic and solutions-focused approach to legal advice.
- Strong stakeholder management skills and the confidence to work with senior business leaders.
- A proactive, collaborative approach and the ability to take ownership of matters from start to finish.
- An interest in working in a broad in-house role where no two days are necessarily the same.
