A legal receptionist is required for a leading Sydney Criminal Barristers’ Chambers located in the CBD. The position is 5 days per week Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 5:30pm. The ability to work 4 days a week will be available for the right candidates.
Law students who are looking to gain practical experience in the administrative workings of Chambers and to gain exposure to criminal law will be considered. The role will allow the student time to study and complete assignments, during working hours, but only as long as the reception duties are treated as the first priority. The candidate will need to be well organised to combine their work and study balance and be able to commit to 4 days per week.
The successful applicant must be very well presented, mature, confident, discreet and able to work independently.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- answering all phone calls
- meeting and greeting solicitors and clients
- the ability to deal with a broad range of clients
- positive knowledge of Word, Outlook, Excel and Dropbox
- typing, photocopying, filing
- maintaining the reception area
- general administrative assistance to the Barristers and to the Clerks of Chambers
- A knack for system improvement and streamlining of processes will be highly regarded
Salary will be in accordance with the Legal Services Award or above depending on the age and experience of the candidate.
The position is available from September 2026, however there is some flexibility with the starting date
