The Opportunity
You will work across major data centre projects , delivering structured cabling and fibre installations from initial installation through to testing and commissioning. You will be involved in:
- Installation and termination of CAT6A structured cabling
- Fibre optic installation, termination and splicing
- Ribbon splicing and fibre management
- Fluke testing and certification
- Installing cabling through ceilings, risers, overhead spaces and underfloor environments
- Rack, cabinet and patch panel installation
- Cable dressing, labelling and management
- Fault finding and troubleshooting
- Reading and working from project drawings, plans and specifications
- Working closely with Project Managers, Supervisors and other trades
- Communicating directly with clients and site stakeholders
- Maintaining high standards of workmanship and site presentation
- Working within strict safety, quality and HSEQ requirements
- Delivering projects safely and within agreed timeframes
What We're Looking For
We're looking for experienced Data Centre Technicians / Data Cabling Technicians who enjoy working on large-scale, high-specification projects.
You’ll ideally have:
- 4+ years' experience in data, communications or structured cabling
- Current ACMA Open Cabling Registration – essential
- Solid experience with CAT6/CAT6A
- Fibre optic installation, termination and testing experience
- Experience with splicing and ribbon splicing
- Strong Fluke testing experience
- Data centre experience – highly regarded
- Experience with racks, cabinets and patch panels
- Strong fault-finding and troubleshooting skills
- Telecommunication Certificate III or higher
- Current Construction White Card
- Vendor endorsements – advantageous
- Electrical A-Grade licence/qualification – highly regarded
- Strong understanding of cabling standards and installation practices
- Excellent attention to detail and pride in your workmanship
- Strong communication and client-facing skills
- The ability to work independently and as part of a project team
