Maintenance Electrician - Manufacturing Location: Western Sydney, NSW

Industry: Manufacturing / Industrial Maintenance The Opportunity Our client, a leading global manufacturer with an established operation in Western Sydney, is seeking an experienced Maintenance Electrician to join their engineering and maintenance team at their Seven Hills facility.
This is a hands-on maintenance position within a manufacturing environment, responsible for ensuring plant, production equipment and site infrastructure operate safely, reliably and efficiently.
The role will suit a qualified industrial electrician who enjoys fault finding and troubleshooting and has strong exposure to automated manufacturing equipment, PLCs, drives, control systems and preventative maintenance.
Working closely with the wider maintenance and engineering team, you will be involved in everything from day-to-day breakdowns and planned maintenance through to equipment improvements, installations, commissioning and small capital projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform electrical breakdown, preventative and predictive maintenance across manufacturing plant and equipment.
- Diagnose and rectify electrical and control system faults to minimise production downtime.
- Troubleshoot PLC I/O, sensors, actuators, drives and associated control circuits.
- Maintain and troubleshoot automation equipment including PLCs, VFDs, HMIs, servo drives and robotic systems .
- Install, maintain and repair electrical wiring, outlets, switches, panels and associated electrical equipment.
- Read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics and technical documentation.
- Identify recurring equipment faults and contribute to reliability and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Analyse maintenance history and equipment performance to identify opportunities to improve reliability and reduce maintenance costs.
- Support engineering projects including equipment design, fabrication, installation,
construction and commissioning.
- Assist with equipment upgrades and small capital improvement projects.
- Coordinate and work alongside contractors and external service providers when required.
- Ensure contractors comply with site safety, environmental and operational requirements.
- Maintain appropriate preventative maintenance schedules, records and reports.
- Ensure all electrical and maintenance activities comply with relevant Australian Standards, regulations and site safety procedures.
About You To be successful in this position, you will ideally have:
- Current unrestricted NSW Electrical Licence - essential.
- Approximately 5+ years' electrical experience , ideally within manufacturing, processing or another industrial setting.
- Strong electrical fault-finding and diagnostic capabilities.
- Experience working with automated production or process equipment.
- Knowledge and practical experience with PLC and/or DCS systems .
- Ability to troubleshoot PLC I/O, sensors, actuators, drives and control circuits.
- Experience maintaining VFDs, HMIs, servo drives and/or robotics .
- Ability to confidently read electrical drawings and schematics.
- Strong understanding of Australian electrical standards and regulations.
- Experience with preventative and planned maintenance programs.
- Strong safety awareness and a proactive approach to identifying potential issues.
Experience with Siemens PLCs , hazardous-area electrical equipment or chemical/process manufacturing environments would be highly regarded.
Transferable Industry Experience
While chemical manufacturing experience would be advantageous,
we are also interested in Maintenance Electricians coming from other highly automated manufacturing and process environments, including:
- Food & beverage manufacturing
- FMCG manufacturing
- Pharmaceutical manufacturing
- Packaging and bottling
- Dairy and food processing
- Plastics and polymers
- Building products manufacturing
- Industrial chemicals and coatings
- Automated warehousing and distribution
- Process manufacturing
The key requirement is genuine industrial/manufacturing maintenance experience , rather than predominantly construction, commercial installation or residential electrical experience.
