About the role The Operations Systems Administrator is responsible for supporting the technology, infrastructure and applications used by Proa's operational teams. The role combines systems administration, operational systems support, cybersecurity, cloud infrastructure and participation in Proa's renewable energy Control Room. The successful candidate will help maintain reliable 24/7 operations, respond to system issues, support operational incidents and assist with the deployment and maintenance of laptops, user accounts and workplace technology. This role will participate in a rotating shift and on-call roster to provide support, including evenings, nights, weekends and public holidays.
Key responsibilities
- Participate in a rotating roster supporting the operation of renewable energy assets in the National Electricity Market (NEM)
- Monitor and maintain the availability of control room systems, servers, applications, communications links and supporting infrastructure
- Respond to operational system alarms, incidents and service interruptions
- Troubleshoot issues affecting connectivity, operational applications, remote access, data communications and control room workstations
- Support incident investigation, fault diagnosis, escalation and recovery
- Manage Azure, Windows and Linux environments, including servers, virtual machines, storage, backups and monitoring
- Support VPNs, firewalls, remote access and secure connectivity to operational sites
- Perform system maintenance, patching, security hardening,
failover testing and disaster recovery activities
- Manage user accounts, permissions, privileged access and multi-factor authentication
- Monitor and respond to cybersecurity alerts, vulnerabilities and access issues
Shift and on-call requirements The role will be required to:
- Work as part of a rotating shift roster.
- Work mornings, evenings, nights, weekends and public holidays.
- Participate in an after-hours on-call roster.
- Respond promptly to high-priority operational incidents.
- Shift arrangements will be established based on operational requirements.
About you
- A qualification in information technology, computer science, cybersecurity, systems engineering or a related discipline is preferred
- Experience in systems administration, infrastructure support, IT operations or a similar technical support role
- Experience with Microsoft Azure services and cloud infrastructure
- Understanding of networking concepts, including IP addressing, routing, DNS, VPNs and firewalls
- Experience managing user accounts, permissions, endpoint devices and Microsoft 365 environments
- Ability to document technical systems and communicate issues clearly to both technical and non-technical users
- Reliable and comfortable working in an operational workplace where system availability is critical
- Calm under pressure and able to prioritise competing incidents
- Strong attention to detail
- Able to work independently while escalating issues appropriately
