Our client is a livestock breeding property in Victoria's Western District, held by the same family for five generations and expanded over the past 10 to 15 years through the purchase of neighbouring blocks. The operation spans 3,225ha of reliable basalt and loam country on 580mm average rainfall, running 8,000 Merino ewes, half joined to prime rams, alongside 800 Angus cows that have just completed the shift from autumn to spring calving.

The owners are continuing to invest in the property and the team that runs it. Proway sheep yards built in 2021 run a double bulk handler under a 1,400m2 shed attached to a ten-stand shearing shed, holding around 3,000 grown sheep under cover. The cattle yards carry a current crush and drafting pens, with covered cattle yards, a machinery shed and a workshop in planning. Laneways link the paddocks, bore water feeds the trough system, and a recently purchased 800-acre block is earmarked for improvement.

The Role

You'll join the stock team under the Farm Manager, working alongside a senior stockperson, moving and monitoring sheep and cattle across the property, with marking, shearing, crutching, lambing and calving through the year. Whether your experience is in cattle or sheep, you can play to your strength while the team trains you across the rest. You'll record your work in AgriWebb.

Alongside the stock, you'll cover fencing, trough cleaning and tractor work for feeding and general property tasks. The role calls for someone who takes pride in their work: gear put away, yards and sheds kept clean, and safety front of mind.

Key Responsibilities

- Move and monitor sheep and cattle across the property day to day.
- Support the seasonal programs. Mustering, marking, shearing, crutching,



lambing and calving through the year.
- Help keep the animal health calendar to schedule. Feeding, drenching and vaccination across all stock classes.
- Keep your AgriWebb entries accurate and current.
- Cover general property duties. Fencing repairs, trough cleaning, upkeep of yards, sheds and equipment, and tractor work as required.

What You Bring

The role suits someone who puts the stock first, leaves the ego at the gate, and looks after the gear they're given.

Essential:

- Hands-on cattle or sheep experience.
- A current driver's licence.
- Open to picking up the other enterprise over time, with training provided.
- Comfortable recording your work in farm software.
- Australian work rights.

Advantageous:

- Your own working dog or team of dogs.
- ChemCert, Low Stress Stock Handling and First Aid certificates.
- Experience with AgriWebb or a similar livestock record-keeping platform.

What You'll Gain

- Package: $65k - $75k + Super.
- Housing: A house on farm, with the first $600 of each quarterly power bill covered.
- Development: Training across sheep and cattle work from the Manager and a senior stockperson.
- Hours: Generally 7:30am to 5pm, Monday to Friday. Planned weekend work through calving, lambing, shearing and crutching is taken as time in lieu or otherwise negotiated with the Manager.
- Location: 65km to Warrnambool and the coast, with the school bus passing the front gate.
