MCJ Appointments is seeking an experienced Payroll Administrator to support the accurate and timely processing of weekly payroll within a busy local council setting.
Reporting to the Coordinator Payroll Services, you will process timesheets, maintain payroll records, complete reconciliations and respond to payroll-related enquiries.
Key responsibilities:
- Process and allocate timesheet hours to the correct cost codes.
- Prepare payroll and employee master-file entries.
- Verify payroll calculations and correct identified discrepancies.
- Reconcile the weekly payroll and prepare payroll vouchers.
- Review adjustment payments and employee termination payments.
- Ensure payments comply with enterprise agreements, workplace policies and relevant legislation.
- Complete statistical returns accurately and within required deadlines.
- Respond promptly and professionally to internal and external payroll enquiries.
- Maintain accurate and confidential payroll information.
About you:
- Previous experience in payroll administration or payroll operations.
- Alternatively, a relevant qualification in Human Resources, Finance or Business Administration.
- Strong numerical ability and excellent attention to detail.
- Experience using payroll systems and computer-based applications.
- Competency using spreadsheets, particularly Microsoft Excel.
- Understanding of payroll legislation, regulations and employment conditions.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to meet weekly deadlines.
- A customer-focused and collaborative approach.
- Current Class C driver’s licence.
- Flexibility to work additional or varied hours when required.
