Silicon Quantum Computing

Sydney

Silicon Quantum Computing (SQC) is at the forefront of global efforts to build the world’s first commercial-scale quantum computer, while delivering quantum-enhanced AI and simulation products to customers today.

Backed by over 25 years of technological excellence, SQC is a full-stack quantum computing company that leverages its proprietary manufacturing process to engineer atomic qubits in silicon with 0.13 nanometer precision. It is the most precise semiconductor manufacturing in the world, enabling systems with world-leading algorithmic fidelity, and a decisive advantage in the global quantum computing race.

Our products are commercially deployed and generating revenue. Watermelon, our quantum-enhanced AI system, is delivering superior results on real-world problems across energy, telecom and finance.

Quantum

Twins, our simulation platform, provides unparalleled ability to model quantum systems, accelerating molecule and materials discovery.

This is SQC: building the future of computing while delivering quantum impact today.

About The Role

SQC exists to push humanity’s technological frontier further than it has ever gone. The work we do demands excellence, and your role is to make sure our performance and reward frameworks drive and recognise the efforts that take us closer to our mission.

Reporting to the VP of Human Resources, you will own performance and reward at SQC. You will shape how we set goals, run our performance and remuneration review cycles, and build the progression matrices that bring our levelling architecture to life. You will benchmark against the market, set our remuneration ranges, and keep every reward decision fair, defensible, and tied to impact.

This is career-defining work. You will advise on executive and director remuneration, guide how we report to the board, and design frameworks that scale as we grow. Because if we are going to build the world’s first commercial-scale quantum computer, we need to attract, reward, and keep the people who can do it.

Role responsibilities

- Own SQC's performance and reward frameworks end to end,

from how goals are set through to how outcomes are rewarded

- Design and run the annual performance review and remuneration review cycles, keeping both rigorous, trusted, and on schedule

- Build and maintain the progression matrices that bring SQC's levelling architecture to life, including for deep technical career paths

- Benchmark against the Australian and US markets, set remuneration ranges, and keep them current as the market moves

- Advise on executive and director remuneration, contributing to equity decisions alongside the wider HR function

- Own SQC's perks and recognition programs, keeping them competitive and consistent with our reward principles

- Own the compensation data and tooling that reward decisions run on, keeping every number sourced and defensible

- Prepare board-ready reporting on performance and reward, and guide how remuneration is presented to the board

- Design frameworks that scale with headcount growth while keeping every reward decision fair and tied to impact

Your experience

- You have overseen performance and reward in a fast-growing, high-performance organisation, and you know how to make the two work together

- You have designed and run performance review cycles that people trust, and remuneration review cycles that hold up to scrutiny

- You are fluent in levelling and progression frameworks, and you can build the matrices that make career growth clear and consistent, including for highly technical career paths

- You know how to benchmark against the market, create remuneration ranges, and keep them current as the market moves

- You bring experience of both the Australian and US compensation markets

- You have worked in deeply technical environments,

developing structures that fit them, such as parallel technical and leadership career tracks

- You are comfortable advising on executive and director remuneration, and presenting it clearly to a board where required

- You bring rigour to reward decisions, and you can explain the logic behind every number

- You balance fairness and competitiveness, and you design frameworks built to scale

- You thrive in high-accountability, fast-moving environments where the quality of your work is visible

Equal opportunity

SQC is an equal opportunity employer. We value diverse perspectives and experiences, and encourage applications from candidates who may not meet every listed requirement. If you’re excited about the role and believe you can contribute, we encourage you to apply.

Export controls

This position may require access to export-controlled information or technology. Employment may be subject to applicable export control laws and may require eligibility assessment based on factors such as nationality, citizenship, or residency, and, where necessary, obtaining relevant export licenses or approvals.

About SQC

SQC was founded by renowned physicist and materials scientist Michelle Simmons, who pioneered the field of atomic electronics, including the development of the world’s first single-atom transistor and the first integrated circuit built with atomic precision. Our Chair, Simon Segars, former CEO of Arm, is a leader in the semiconductor industry and was instrumental in developing the processors that powered the mobile computing revolution.

As a full-stack company with in-house QPU manufacturing, SQC can design, produce and test new quantum chips in under a week, enabling rapid iteration and a decisive advantage in the race to build the world’s first commercial-scale quantum computer.

SQC is a high-accountability environment built on a simple principle: Every Atom Counts. If you’re looking to play a meaningful role in building the next frontier of computing, we’d love to hear from you.
