Project Director - New Coomera Hospital

About The Role

TSA Riley is seeking an exceptional Project Director to lead our project management team on the New Coomera Hospital, one of Queensland's largest and most complex social infrastructure projects.

This is a senior major-project delivery leadership role to support the successful delivery of a multi-billion-dollar greenfield hospital and its associated infrastructure.

The project already has a highly experienced team with deep health infrastructure expertise and strong senior project leadership capability. With the project transitioning into the construction phase, we are looking for a delivery expert - someone with the strategic judgement, executive presence and major-project experience to lead and integrate that capability across a complex delivery environment. Health experience is highly regarded, but it is not essential.

This role is based in Gold Coast, Brisbane.

What You'll Do

As Project Director, you will lead TSA Riley's project management function and work alongside Health Infrastructure Queensland (HIQ) to maintain control and momentum across the project.

You Will

- Lead and integrate a large, experienced multidisciplinary project team, establishing clear direction, accountability and priorities
- Support HIQ with delivery strategy, executive decision-making and resolution of project challenges
- Lead the project management interface including with the Tier 1 contractor
- Oversee and integrate the delivery of significant road and external precinct critical infrastructure works being undertaken through separate delivery arrangements
- Maintain oversight across programme, design, procurement, commercial, construction, interfaces and management of delivery risks
- Support HIQ in leading engagement and coordination with key authorities and infrastructure stakeholders, including Queensland Rail, City of Gold Coast and Queensland Urban Utilities
- Provide clear, concise and decision-ready advice on project status, risks and critical issues




- Ensure the right people are focused on the right workstreams at the right time.

This is a role for a hands-on leader, with an expectation you will understand the detail, identify what matters and drive delivery.

About You

You are an accomplished project delivery and people leader with a track record of successfully leading large and complex capital projects.

You Bring

- Significant leadership experience on major capital projects, ideally greater than $1 billion
- Excellent communication skills and the executive presence to operate credibly with senior government, client and contractor leadership
- Strong experience working with government clients and senior public-sector stakeholders
- Proven ability to lead large, senior and multidisciplinary project teams
- Demonstrated experience managing Tier 1 contractors through complex delivery environments
- Strong strategic judgement - the ability to anticipate issues, understand their wider implications and determine the appropriate response
- Strong capability across construction delivery, programme, design, procurement, commercial management and risk
- Experience managing significant interfaces with authorities, utilities, infrastructure providers and other key stakeholders
- A pragmatic and decisive approach to problem-solving
- The ability to remain calm, structured and effective in a complex, high-pressure environment.

Experience in major social infrastructure is strongly preferred. This may include health, defence, education, justice, major civil infrastructure or similarly complex government capital programs.
