About us: The Day Surgery Unit (DSU) and Perioperative Overnight Stay Unit (POSU) provides the following services within the surgical services of the Cairns Hospital: * Admission of elective, trauma, and emergency patients on day of surgery. * Stage two and three recovery for day surgery patients. * Post operative inpatient surgical care for adults requiring less than 24hr admission. * Scheduled minor surgical procedures under local anaesthetic. * Admission and discharge for auxiliary procedures under GA including MRI. * Admission and discharge of anaesthetic led procedures including allergy testing. About your role:
In this position you will..... * Coordinate patient care and patient flow through the admission area, operating theatres, PACU 2 & 3 and POSU * Work collaboratively with the Nurse Unit Manager to support service development, maintain standards of patient care and promote workforce capability.
* Provide expert clinical care in the Day Surgery Unit and work in collaboration with the Nurse Unit Manager to ensure the maintenance of safe standards in patient care. For more information about this role, please refer to the attached Role Description.
