The opportunity

CloudMarc is looking for an experienced Quality Engineer to support a major Australian financial-services organisation.

This is a hands-on role for someone comfortable working across test automation, functional testing and AI-assisted engineering. You will join an established delivery team and be expected to understand the environment quickly, work independently and contribute with limited supervision.

The successful candidate will have practical test-automation experience while remaining willing and capable of performing high-quality manual testing when required.

What you will be doing

You will:

- Design, develop and maintain reliable automated tests
- Identify suitable scenarios for automation
- Perform functional, integration, regression and end-to-end testing
- Complete exploratory and manual testing where automation is not appropriate
- Review requirements, user stories and acceptance criteria
- Build reusable and maintainable automation components
- Test APIs, integrations and end-to-end business processes
- Support automated testing within CI/CD workflows
- Use AI-assisted engineering tools to improve test design,



development and analysis
- Investigate defects and collaborate with developers through resolution
- Analyse test results and identify underlying failures
- Improve testing efficiency, coverage and quality
- Communicate quality risks, progress and outcomes clearly

What we are looking for

You will have:

- Strong software-testing and Quality Engineering experience
- Hands-on test-automation experience
- The ability to develop automated tests rather than only execute existing scripts
- Strong functional, manual and exploratory testing capability
- Experience testing APIs and integrated systems
- An understanding of reusable and maintainable automation design
- Experience working within Agile delivery teams
- Strong defect investigation and root-cause-analysis skills
- The ability to work independently and become productive quickly
- Excellent communication, collaboration and problem-solving skills
- The flexibility to move between automation and manual testing according to delivery needs AI-assisted engineering

Practical experience using AI development tools would be particularly valuable, including:
- GitHub Copilot
- Claude Code
- AI-assisted test design and scenario generation
- AI-supported coding, debugging and code review
- Using AI to improve automation efficiency and test coverage





You should understand how to use these tools responsibly to accelerate delivery without compromising engineering quality or maintainability.

Highly desirable

Experience with any of the following would be beneficial:

- Playwright, Selenium, Cypress or another modern automation framework
- JavaScript, TypeScript, Java, C# or another programming language
- API automation and tools such as Postman or REST Assured
- CI/CD platforms and automated quality gates
- Financial services, banking, payments or regulated environments
- Testing complex customer journeys and integrated business processes

The type of person we are looking for This role will suit someone who considers themselves a Quality Engineer, rather than only an automation developer or manual tester.

You can determine what should and should not be automated, build maintainable solutions and still perform detailed functional testing when it provides greater value. You are proactive, technically curious and comfortable joining an established workplace where you will need to contribute quickly.
