Your Opportunity The Examining Surveyor provides surveying and cadastral expertise to support the integrity of the NSW land titles system through complex boundary definition decision-making, technical advice, investigations, reviews and quality improvement activities. The role supports examination capability, industry engagement, digital transformation initiatives and the consistent application of legislative, regulatory and Registrar General requirements across land titling processes.

Your Responsibilities

- Provided expert guidance to examiners, surveyors, stakeholders, and customers on boundary definition, plan preparation, surveying legislation, and Registrar General's Directions to support consistent decision-making and maintain the integrity of the NSW land titles system.
- Assessed and resolved complex boundary definition matters through the interpretation and application of legislation, policies, regulations, and established precedents to ensure accurate registration outcomes.
- Conducted investigations into complex examination matters, customer complaints, and review requests,



delivering recommendations and specialist advice to support dispute resolution and sound decision-making.
- Built strong relationships with industry bodies, government agencies, surveyors, and customers, providing specialist cadastral advice and facilitating the resolution of complex land titling issues.
- Supported quality assurance, service improvement, and system transition initiatives by providing technical expertise, business rules, testing support, and guidance to enhance examiner capability and consistency.
- Delivered specialist advice on surveying, plan examination, and boundary matters, ensuring the consistent interpretation and application of legislative and regulatory requirements.
- Mentored and developed examiner capability through technical coaching, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Contributed to industry engagement and quality improvement programs by identifying emerging issues and promoting best-practice surveying and plan preparation standards.

About You To be successful in this role you will:

- Tertiary qualifications in Surveying or a related discipline, and current registration as a surveyor in NSW.
- Minimum 5 years post registration experience will be highly regarded • Extensive knowledge of surveying, cadastral boundary definition, land titling principles, and relevant legislation, regulations, policies and Registrar General requirements, with demonstrated experience providing clear technical advice on complex matters.




- Demonstrated experience using cadastral and land titling systems and providing subject matter expertise to support digital transformation, system enhancements, business process improvement and the adoption of new ways of working.
- Experience supporting organisational change initiatives including the adoption of new systems, processes and ways of working.
- Demonstrated ability to mentor, coach and support the development of technical capability and decision-making consistency within specialist and operational teams.
- Highly developed communication, stakeholder engagement and presentation skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams and communicate complex technical information to diverse audiences.
- Advanced analytical, investigative and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex information, exercise sound judgement and resolve complex boundary definition, examination and review matters.
- Demonstrated understanding of governance, due diligence and decision-making frameworks, including experience conducting reviews, investigations and providing evidence-based recommendations to support best practice administrative decision-making.
