Location: Maitland, Lithgow, Gosford, Parramatta or Wollongong with hybrid working and office attendance as per the DCS Flexible Working Policy

Employment Type: 1x Full time, ongoing opportunity and 1 full time, temporary opportunity (up to 12 months)

Who we are

Revenue NSW is the state's principal revenue agency and forms part of the Department of Customer Service. We play a vital role in building a prosperous, safe and fair society through the collection of revenue, administration of grants, resolution of fines, and recovery of debt.

We are seeking motivated and highly analytical professionals to join our Review Branch, Technical Advisory Services. Reporting to the Manager Review, you will be responsible for independently determining objections to decisions of the Chief Commissioner of State Revenue relating to state taxes, duties and grants.

This is a unique opportunity to work on complex and challenging matters, apply legislation in a practical context, influence outcomes, and contribute to the integrity and consistency of Revenue NSW decision-making.

About the role

As a Review Officer, you will:

- Research, analyse and determine complex objections relating to state taxes, duties and grants.
- Interpret and apply state tax legislation, rulings and relevant case law to support sound and defensible decisions.
- Prepare high-quality reports and correspondence on complex matters.
- Generate reassessments using Revenue NSW systems.




- Provide expert advice and feedback to operational areas on objection outcomes and emerging issues.
- Support the development of team capability through coaching and knowledge sharing.
- Engage with customers and stakeholders to explain decisions clearly and professionally

About you To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:

- Strong analytical, critical thinking and decision-making skills.
- The ability to interpret and apply legislation, policies, rulings and legal precedents.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to translate complex issues into clear and concise advice.
- Effective stakeholder engagement, negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
- The ability to manage competing priorities and meet strict deadlines in a high-volume environment.
- A strong commitment to customer service and continuous improvement.
- Comprehensive knowledge of state taxes, duties, grants or related legislative frameworks

Salary Grade 7/8, with the base salary for this role starting at $116981 base plus superannuation.
