About the Role
THANDI MOTORS Pty Ltd is a busy automotive workshop in Kilburn, South Australia, seeking a qualified and experienced Motor Mechanic to join our team on a full time, permanent basis. The successful applicant will carry out vehicle inspections, servicing, diagnostics, repairs and maintenance across a range of motor vehicles, working to a high standard of safety and quality.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose and identify faults in engines, transmissions and other mechanical and vehicle systems using diagnostic equipment and testing procedures
- Inspect vehicles and determine required repairs and maintenance
- Perform scheduled servicing, including oil changes, lubrication, tune-ups and general mechanical maintenance
- Carry out repairs and replace worn, damaged or defective mechanical components
- Remove, dismantle, repair and reassemble engines, transmissions, steering and other mechanical components
- Test, adjust and tune repaired components to ensure proper operation, performance and reliability
- Conduct roadworthiness and safety-related inspections where required
- Follow manufacturer specifications, repair procedures and workplace safety requirements
- Maintain accurate records of inspections, repairs, servicing and parts used
- Communicate professionally with customers, suppliers and team members
- Maintain a clean, safe and organised workshop environment
- Work effectively both independently and as part of a team
Skills, Qualifications and Experience
- Certificate III in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology or equivalent relevant trade qualification
- Certificate IV, Diploma or additional automotive qualifications highly regarded
- Relevant experience as a Motor Mechanic in an automotive workshop environment
- Strong mechanical diagnostic and problem-solving skills
- Ability to use computerised diagnostic equipment and relevant workshop tools
- Good attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
- Ability to follow technical instructions and repair procedures
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to work safely, efficiently and independently
- Current driver's licence preferred
- Availability to work 38 hours per week, with additional hours where reasonably required by business operations
