About the Role

THE WESTERN BREW CAFÉ (BREW BY J H PTY LTD) is Restaurant business specialising in breakfast and lunch meals, freshly prepared coffee, and a range of beverages. The business caters to dine-in and takeaway customers, providing a welcoming and customer-focused environment As part of our ongoing operations, we are seeking a Full time Chef to join our team and contribute to the preparation and delivery of consistently high-quality meals, menu development, and efficient kitchen operations.

Key Responsibilities

- Prepare, cook and present a variety of breakfast, lunch and café-style dishes in accordance with established recipes and quality standards.
- Menu planning and development, including introducing new dishes and seasonal menu options.
- Monitor ingredient requirements and stock levels and coordinate the timely ordering of food and kitchen supplies.
- Check the quality and freshness of ingredients and finished dishes to maintain consistent food standards.
- Manage food preparation, portioning and presentation to ensure consistency across all meals.
- Monitor cooking processes, temperatures and preparation methods to achieve the required quality and presentation.
- Assist with managing food costs, minimising wastage and ensuring efficient use of ingredients.




- Organise and coordinate kitchen activities during service periods to ensure meals are prepared accurately and on time.
- Provide guidance and direction to kitchen staff and assist with training in food preparation, cooking techniques and kitchen procedures.
- Maintain high standards of kitchen cleanliness, hygiene and food safety.
- Ensure food is stored, handled and prepared in accordance with applicable food safety requirements.
- Work collaboratively with management and front-of-house staff to maintain smooth and efficient service.
- Assist with maintaining kitchen equipment and ensuring the kitchen and food preparation areas remain organised and operational.

Essential Requirements

- Relevant commercial cookery qualifications, preferably Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery or equivalent.
- with a minimum of 1 year’s relevant experience as a Chef in a restaurant, café, or similar commercial kitchen environment.
- Strong knowledge of food preparation, cooking techniques and kitchen operations.
- Experience preparing breakfast and lunch menus in a busy café environment.
- Good understanding of food safety, hygiene and secure food-handling practices.
