Due to continued business growth, we are seeking a qualified and experienced Carpenter to join our professional construction team.

About the role

As a Carpenter, you will construct, erect, install, renovate and repair building structures and fixtures made from timber, plywood, wallboard and other materials. You will work from drawings and specifications and undertake framing, flooring, cladding, formwork and general carpentry work across residential and commercial construction projects.

This is a full-time position requiring approximately 38 hours of work per week.

Key responsibilities

1. Study and interpret construction drawings, plans and specifications to determine materials, dimensions and installation procedures.
2. Select and order appropriate timber and other construction materials.
3. Measure, mark, cut, shape and prepare timber and other materials using hand and power tools.
4. Assemble, nail, screw and fasten cut and shaped components.
5. Construct and erect wall frames, roof framing and other structural frameworks.
6. Install subflooring, floorboards, fascia panels, roof sheathing and exterior wall cladding.
7. Fit door frames, window frames, doors, mouldings and other building fixtures.
8. Assemble prepared timber components to form structures and fittings ready for installation.
9. Cut and form timber joints and verify the alignment, level and trueness of completed structures.
10. Construct concrete formwork where required.
11. Renovate, repair and replace damaged structures,



fittings and fixtures.
12. Work with plywood, wallboard, plastic laminates, metals and other construction materials where required.
13. Ensure all work complies with approved plans, building requirements, workplace health and safety procedures and company quality standards.
14. Coordinate effectively with supervisors, tradespeople, subcontractors and other members of the project team.
15. Maintain tools, equipment and a clean and protected work area.

Qualifications and experience

To be considered for this position, applicants should have:

1. An AQF Certificate III in Carpentry, including at least two years of on-the-job training, or an AQF Certificate IV or higher relevant qualification; or
2. At least three years of relevant carpentry experience as a substitute for the formal qualification.
3. Relevant post-qualification or industry experience in residential or commercial carpentry.
4. Demonstrated experience in timber framing, roof framing, flooring, cladding, formwork and the installation of doors and windows.
5. The ability to read and interpret construction drawings, plans and technical specifications.
6. Competence in safely using carpentry hand tools, power tools and construction equipment.
7. Strong attention to detail and a commitment to high-quality workmanship.
8. Knowledge of construction safety requirements and safe work practices.
9. The ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a construction team.
10. Good communication, organisation and time-management skills.
11. A current driver’s licence.
12. Any construction industry licences, registrations or safety certifications required to perform the role.
