Help shape the future of ecological restoration across NSW

- Temporary (until 30 June 2027) Full-time (35 hours per week) opportunity
- Located in Parramatta, or other location by negotiation, hybrid working supported
- Environment Officer Class 7, salary ranges from $112,375 to $124,158 pa plus super

We are seeking a motivated and collaborative Restoration Scientist to provide technical, scientific and analytical support for the delivery of terrestrial restoration science and research programs across NSW.

This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to large-scale environmental initiatives that support ecosystem recovery, biodiversity conservation and sustainable land management. Working with scientists, researchers, government agencies and stakeholders, you will help generate the scientific evidence needed to inform restoration practice, policy and decision-making across a range of landscapes, including parks and reserves, mined lands and agricultural environments.

Working with a Senior Restoration Scientist and the Restoration Science Team, you will:

- Support consultation within DCCEEW to determine restoration data needs.
- Assist in the development and implementation of scientifically rigorous restoration data collection, evaluation and reporting frameworks.
- Collect restoration data, including conducting vegetation surveys, on restoration sites.
- Manage, analyse and interpret restoration data.
- Support the delivery of terrestrial restoration science and research programs and projects across diverse environmental landscapes.

About You

You are an enthusiastic scientist with a passion for ecological restoration and applied environmental research.



You enjoy working collaboratively to solve complex environmental challenges and are motivated by opportunities to contribute to restoration outcomes across NSW.

You combine strong scientific and analytical skills with the ability to communicate research findings clearly and effectively. You are comfortable working with data, managing multiple projects and engaging with a diverse range of stakeholders.

Essential Requirements

- Knowledge and experience in terrestrial restoration science and research
- Experience in data management
- Experience in statistical data visualisation, analysis and modelling, preferably using R
- Experience communicating science and research to a range of audiences
- Relevant tertiary scientific qualifications
- Driver’s license and willingness to undertake fieldwork in remote locations for up to three weeks at a time
