Shape projects that make a lasting impact on regional communities
At Amey, we're looking for an experienced Senior Environmental Planner to join our growing planning and environmental team. This is an opportunity to take a lead role on diverse projects, influence outcomes for clients and communities, mentor developing planners, and contribute to the continued growth of our business.
If you enjoy combining technical expertise with project leadership and client engagement, you'll find plenty of variety and autonomy in this role.
About the role
As a senior member of the team, you'll play a key role in delivering environmental and town planning projects from inception through to completion. You'll work closely with clients, stakeholders and project teams to ensure projects are delivered to a high standard, on time and within budget.
Your responsibilities will include
- Preparing planning assessments, environmental reports and supporting studies.
- Managing project budgets, schedules, resources and client relationships.
- Providing technical guidance and reviewing the work of junior planners.
- Supporting proposal development, fee estimates and tender submissions.
- Building and maintaining strong stakeholder and client relationships.
- Identifying opportunities for new work and contributing to business development initiatives.
- Mentoring team members and helping strengthen capability across the planning discipline.
What we're looking for Must-have experience:
- A tertiary qualification in Town Planning, Environmental Planning or a related discipline.
- At least 5 years' experience in a planning, environmental planning or project management role.
- Strong knowledge of statutory, strategic and environmental planning frameworks.
- Demonstrated project management experience, including budget and client management.
- Excellent written communication and report writing skills.
- A current driver's licence.
Nice to have:
- Membership or registration with the Planning Institute of Australia (or the ability to obtain registration).
- Existing professional networks across local government, development, infrastructure or environmental sectors.
- Experience mentoring or leading planning professionals.
The team and environment You'll join a cooperative planning and environmental team where knowledge sharing, technical excellence and practical problem-solving are valued. The role offers a mix of office-based work, stakeholder engagement and occasional fieldwork across a variety of environments and project types.
You'll work closely with experienced planning professionals while having the opportunity to influence project outcomes, contribute to strategic growth initiatives and help develop the next generation of planners.
