Purpose of the Position In 2026 Batchelor Institute will offer a tertiary enabling program. This position will teach across two units in this course. These units are academic writing and mathematics.
The position will be required to develop all content for both units, deliver teaching in both units, and mark assessments and provide students with assessment feedback.
The position will provide teaching through face-to-face contact in classrooms and through the CANVAS online learning platform.
This position will require an experienced lecturer with specific skills in mathematics and academic writing to develop students who are new to higher education.
As a Senior Lecturer, this position is required to provide leadership to other lecturer and to provide advice on teaching and learning related matters.
The position is also required to contribute to the preparation and teaching of graduate certificate courses that will be offered in semester 1, 2027. This will also involve preparing teaching content and resources, delivering lecturers online and leading tutorial discussions and activities,
and marking and providing feedback on assessments.
Duties
- Prepare academic writing and mathematics teaching content for tertiary enabling program
- Develop assessments, marking assessments and providing feedback on assessments in the academic writing and mathematics units of the tertiary enabling program
- Deliver lectures and lead tutorial activities and discussions in the tertiary enabling course.
- Prepare and teach content in graduate certificate courses.
- Lead tutorial discussions and activities in graduate certificate courses
- Deliver lectures in graduate certificate courses
- Develop mark and provide feedback on assessments in graduate certificate courses
- Liaise with industry groups and employers about student study options and tailored teaching options.
- Undertake other reasonable duties as directed by your line manager.
Selection Criteria
1. Demonstrated ability to work effectively in culturally diverse teams within the social, political, and cultural environments of Indigenous Australian families, communities, and organisations.
2. Must have experience teaching academic writing and mathematics.
3. Highly effective interpersonal skills including proficient written and oral communication which can be adapted to meet the needs of people from all educational levels.
4. Ability to build robust relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
5. Demonstrated initiative and managing workload priorities.
6. Understanding of Work Health and Safety principles and practices, and ability to comply with Institute WHS Policies and Procedures.
7. Must have experience delivering training or teaching to adult learners.
8. Must have well developed oral and written communication skills.
9. Must have a good understanding of issues impacting the learning of Indigenous students.
