About the Work Health & Safety Advisor Role
Reporting to the Project Manager, this is a fully site-based WHS Advisor position supporting the delivery of a major underground utilities project in Western Sydney. You will be the dedicated safety representative on site, working closely with project teams to provide day-to-day WHS support and ensure work is completed safely and in line with project and legislative requirements.

The role is highly operational and best suited to someone who enjoys being out in the field, building relationships with crews, identifying risks early, and driving positive safety outcomes through visible leadership.
The project involves complex underground construction activities, including pipeline installation, trenching, excavation, shaft construction, tunnelling, and other high-risk civil works.

Key Responsibilities

- Conduct regular site inspections, audits, and field safety interactions across active work fronts
- Monitor high-risk construction activities and ensure appropriate controls are implemented
- Review SWMS, permits, and other high-risk work documentation
- Support supervisors and project teams with pre-starts, toolbox talks, and daily safety engagement
- Identify hazards and work collaboratively with site teams to implement practical risk controls
- Incident investigations,



corrective action management, and safety reporting
- Maintain accurate site safety records and inspection documentation
- Promote positive safety behaviours through visible leadership and regular workforce engagement
- Ensure compliance with WHS legislation, client requirements, and project management systems

Skills & Experience

- Certificate IV in Work Health & Safety (or equivalent)
- Previous experience in a site-based WHS Advisor role within civil or infrastructure construction
- Experience working on underground utilities, pipeline, water, wastewater, or major infrastructure projects will be highly regarded
- Exposure to high-risk activities such as excavation, confined spaces, lifting operations, and underground construction
- Strong communication skills with the ability to build credibility with supervisors, subcontractors, and frontline workers
- Able to work autonomously as the dedicated WHS resource on site
- White Card and current driver's licence required
- First Aid qualification
