The Employer
Broad Water Downs Pty Ltd (Macquarie Downs Feedlot) is a name synonymous with quality, recently recognised as a finalist in the 2024 ALFA Feedlot of the Year Awards. Situated across 6,900 hectares of prime Darling Downs country, the operation integrates 900 hectares of irrigation and dryland cropping for ration production. As a proud subsidiary of Starzen, a global Japanese meat industry leader, dedicated to producing a world-class Wagyu brand that meets the highest international standards.
The specialised feedlot currently manages 3,800 head with plans to scale to 4,900 SCU. Taking pride in a culture of honesty and integrity, driven by a vibrant, youthful team. While we focus on custom feeding for partner Wagyu breeders,
we are equally passionate about developing our own elite Wagyu brand on-site.
The Offer
Broad Water Downs is committed to offering the successful candidate an attractive, highly competitive remuneration package. The successful permanent, full-time applicant will be provided a comfortable three-bedroom house, a dedicated work utility vehicle (ute), a work phone, and a laptop to support their duties.
Based at "Macquarie Downs" near Leyburn, QLD, offering excellent connectivity with a school bus service conveniently available at the front gate.
The Ideal Candidate
We are looking for a focused, flexible thinking qualified ready to take the next step in their career. You should be a knowledgeable livestock person who values transparency and possesses:
- Proven experience in livestock management with feedlot operations being advantageous.
- A grounded, humble approach with a genuine passion for developing others.
- Clear communication skills to effectively engage with both staff and clients.
- Practical expertise in commodity handling and logistics management.
- A solid understanding of cattle health, including diagnosis and treatment.
- Wagyu-specific experience is a plus, but not a deal-breaker for the right candidate.
