About the role

Nundah Private Hospital is seeking advanced mental health practice nurses to join us for a variety of senior positions in our newly established, mental health facility. Roles on offer may be working in triage and assessment, care coordination or ward based to effectively and efficiently manage assigned work area. The triage and care coordinator roles serve as a conduit between the patient, nominated carer, the treating clinical team and the Psychiatrist.

Key responsibilities

- Coordination of patient care between Consultant Psychiatrists and Unit Staff including liaison between patients' families and outside agencies
- Ensure ongoing communication occurs between patients, their families, medical and nursing staff, allied health professionals, community services and non-clinical personnel
- Facilitate access to the Outreach team and other support networks as required to optimise patient outcomes post hospitalisation




- Monitor and evaluate short and long term patient outcomes to assess the effectiveness of interventions
- Coordinate bed management in inpatient areas in consultation with Nursing Unit Managers and Admissions Coordinator
- Act as a role model for nursing and allied health staff by complying with standards, legislation, policies and procedures
- Provide in-service education on a regular basis
- Act as a clinical resource for colleagues and peers
- Participate in recruitment, allocation and retention of suitably qualified clinical staff
- Participate in clinical teaching and orientation of new staff, medical students and student nurses

About you

- Registration as a Registered Nurse with AHPRA and a current annual practicing certificate is essential
- Minimum of five years clinical experience in a mental health setting
- Excellent communication and liaison skills
- Excellent documentation and report writing skills
- Ability to remain calm and skilled
- Ability to work collaboratively with consumers, carers, staff, Hospital accredited professionals and members of the public
- Advanced computer skills particularly with Microsoft Office, Outlook and Internet
- Problem solving ability and triage skills
- Ability to coordinate and manage a number of concurrent projects
- Effective time management
