- Temporary (until 30 June 2027) Full-time (35 hours per week) opportunity
- Located in Parramatta, or other location by negotiation, hybrid working supported
- Environment Officer Class 9, salary ranges from $128,052 to $142,649 pa plus super

We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Senior Scientist to provide advanced scientific, technical and analytical expertise that supports the delivery of critical environmental and restoration science programs.

This is an exciting opportunity to influence strategic science priorities, lead complex research initiatives, and contribute to evidence-based decision-making that delivers meaningful outcomes for ecosystems, biodiversity and the broader community.

As a Senior Scientist, you will work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders, including government agencies, universities and research organisations, to deliver high-quality scientific advice, data analysis and research outcomes. You will play a key role in advancing terrestrial restoration science, developing scientific capability, driving innovation and ensuring the application of contemporary scientific methods and best practice.

Working with the Restoration Science Team, you will:

- Lead consultation within DCCEEW to determine restoration data needs.
- Lead the design of terrestrial restoration data collection protocols and programs.
- Provide high-level scientific, technical and analytical expertise to support strategic restoration evaluation.




- Lead and contribute to complex research, analysis and interpretation of scientific data.
- Mentor and support team members, identifying capability development opportunities and fostering a collaborative, high-performing team culture.

About You

You are a passionate and experienced scientist with a strong background in environmental research and a commitment to delivering high-quality scientific outcomes. You enjoy working at the intersection of science, policy and program delivery, using evidence and innovation to solve complex environmental challenges.

You are equally comfortable conducting detailed scientific analyses, managing complex datasets, engaging with stakeholders and communicating research findings to a variety of audiences. You thrive in team-oriented environments, contribute to a positive team culture and are motivated by opportunities to influence environmental outcomes and restoration efforts across NSW.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in terrestrial restoration science and research.
- Experience designing, implementing and evaluating scientific research projects.
- Strong experience in data management, including data quality assurance,



governance and knowledge-sharing practices.

Essential Requirements

- Well-developed knowledge and experience in developing and delivering rigorous science projects.
- Experience in project management including allocation of resources, and ability to report on results achieved.
- Relevant science degree qualification.
