The role

We are looking for a Senior Traffic Engineer to become a pivotal member of our Brisbane team.

This role balances hands on project delivery with the broader work of building a consultancy. You will lead our most complex Transport Advisory and Construction Traffic Management projects, set the technical standard others work to, mentor the engineers coming up behind you, and help grow the client relationships that keep good work coming through the door.

You will

Lead technical delivery

- Lead and deliver complex traffic and transport engineering projects from brief through to approval
- Conduct technical reviews and uphold quality assurance standards across the team's output
- Track project progress, anticipate risks and keep work moving on time and on budget
- Act as the senior point of contact for clients, councils and the Department of Transport and Main Roads
- Provide expert advice on Traffic Impact Assessments, Construction Traffic Management Plans, road safety audits and site safety assessments

Mentor and develop the team

- Coach traffic engineers on both technical craft and the commercial side of consulting
- Give feedback and recognition regularly,



and reinforce our Humble, Hungry, Smart behaviours
- Support the career development of junior engineers, including pathways to RPEQ registration and Road Safety Auditor accreditation
- Build a team culture where people are comfortable asking questions and admitting what they do not yet know

Grow the practice

- Identify and convert leads, and contribute to the business development pipeline
- Work with our Business Development Manager on growth strategy, and represent Modus at industry events
- Lead the preparation of proposals and pitches
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients and referral partners

Keep the work safe and compliant

- Ensure all work meets Modus policies, safety standards and quality guidelines
- Identify hazards and take preventative action, on site and in the office

What we are looking for

- Minimum five years of experience in traffic and transport engineering consultancy
- RPEQ registration, or eligibility and a commitment to registering
- Solid technical knowledge across traffic engineering services, particularly development assessment and construction traffic management
- Working knowledge of Austroads guides, AGTTM & QGTTM
- Familiarity with the Queensland development assessment process and local government planning schemes




- Familiarity with the engineering software and tools used in traffic consultancy
- A demonstrated ability to mentor and coach junior engineers
- Confidence in client relationship management and business development
- Clear written and verbal communication, and the judgement to know when a compliant answer is not yet the right one
- Open driver's licence and full working rights in Australia

Nice to have

- A degree in civil engineering
- Road Safety Auditor or Senior Road Safety Auditor accreditation
- Queensland traffic management qualifications
- Experience providing expert witness advice
- Exposure to Waste Management Plans, refuse room design or council waste guidelines
