We are seeking an experienced and reliable Carpenter to join our team. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled tradesperson who takes pride in quality workmanship and enjoys working with timber structures in a professional and safety-focused environment.

About the Role

As a Carpenter, you will be responsible for constructing, assembling, installing, maintaining and repairing timber structures and components in accordance with plans, specifications and required quality standards.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

1. Read and interpret building plans, drawings and specifications to determine required materials, dimensions and construction methods.
2. Select, measure and prepare timber and other materials and set out work according to project requirements.
3. Measure, cut, shape and assemble timber components using hand tools, power tools and woodworking machinery.
4. Construct and erect timber wall frames, roof framing, roof trusses and other structural components.
5. Assemble prepared timber components to form structures and fittings ready for installation.
6. Install and work with flooring systems, sub-floor structures and floor components where required.
7. Check completed frames and structures for correct measurements, alignment, level, square and structural accuracy.
8. Cut and form timber joints and securely fasten components using nails, screws, brackets and other appropriate fixing systems.
9. Fit and install door and window frames, fascia, external cladding and related building components where required.
10. Repair, replace and renovate damaged or deteriorated timber structures and fittings.

Assist with the construction of formwork and other carpentry structures when required.
12. Safely operate carpentry tools, machinery and equipment and maintain them in good working condition.
13. Ensure all work is completed to required specifications, quality standards and workplace health and safety requirements.
14. Work effectively with supervisors, tradespeople and other team members to complete projects within required timeframes.
15. Maintain a clean, organised and safe work area.

Skills and Experience

To be successful in this role, you will have:

1. At least 1 year of relevant experience working as a Carpenter.
2. Demonstrated experience working with timber framing, structural timber components or similar carpentry work.
3. Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, plans and specifications.
4. Sound knowledge of carpentry techniques, measurements, materials, fixings and construction methods.
5. Competence in the safe use of hand tools, power tools and carpentry machinery.
6. Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate, high-quality work.
7. Good understanding of workplace health and safety requirements.
8. Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
9. Good communication, reliability and time-management skills.
10. Relevant carpentry trade qualification or equivalent training is highly regarded.
11. A current driver's licence is desirable.
