Support Workers / Mentors – Multiple Sydney Locations

CoastCare Sydney is recruiting experienced, reliable and engaging Support Workers and Mentors to join our MentorMate and SisterLink programs. These roles are suited to people who are passionate about building genuine professional relationships and supporting participants to develop independence, confidence, life skills and meaningful community connections.

We currently have a combination of regular ongoing shifts and casual coverage opportunities available across Sydney.

Current Opportunities

MentorMate

Newtown

- Mondays, 10:00 am–6:00 pm
- Regular ongoing shift
- Additional capacity to provide ad hoc coverage on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays is highly desirable

Austral

- Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays, 3:00 pm–5:00 pm
- Casual coverage prospect

Sutherland Shire

- Casual coverage across approximately three to four participants
- Seven-day roster availability is desirable
- Current priority days include Mondays, Wednesdays and weekends
- Applicants with flexible availability across the Shire will be strongly considered

SisterLink

Blacktown

- Current priority shifts include Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays and some weekends
- Typical shift time: 2:00 pm–10:00 pm
- Opportunity for approximately two to three regular ongoing shifts per week
- Applicants with availability across a seven-day roster are preferred

Pennant Hills and Warrawee

- Regular ongoing opportunities across two participants

- Preferred availability
- Mondays and Tuesdays, 11:00 am–2:00 pm
- Saturday mornings

About the Role

Depending on the participant’s individual needs and goals, responsibilities may include:
- Providing strengths-based mentoring and disability support




- Supporting participants to build independence and daily living skills
- Facilitating community access and social participation
- Supporting participants to attend appointments, activities and community programs
- Encouraging confidence, emotional regulation and positive decision-making
- Maintaining clear and professional boundaries
- Completing accurate case notes and shift documentation
- Following individual support plans, risk-management strategies and escalation procedures
- Communicating effectively with participants, families and the CoastCare Sydney team

About You

We are looking for applicants who are:
- Reliable, consistent and committed to providing continuity of support
- Person-centred, engaging and able to build positive professional relationships
- Confident supporting participants in the community
- Able to maintain appropriate professional boundaries
- Proactive, organised and responsive to workplace communication
- Comfortable completing electronic case notes and required documentation
- Willing to accept regular shifts that genuinely match their ongoing availability

Previous disability, mental health, youth work, mentoring, community services or psychosocial-support experience is highly regarded.

Essential Requirements

Successful applicants must hold or be willing to obtain:
- NDIS Worker Screening Check




- Working with Children Check, where applicable
- Current First Aid and CPR certificates
- Valid driver’s licence
- Access to a reliable and comprehensively insured vehicle
- Relevant work rights in Australia
- Required NDIS orientation and worker training modules

Relevant qualifications in disability, community services, youth work, mental health, social work or a related field are desirable.
