About the role The Tax Projects Lead supports the Group Tax Team, specifically the Group Tax Manager and broader team, in leading and delivering key tax-related projects, driving process and systems improvements, and strengthening the organisation's tax governance and risk management framework. The role also provides compliance and reporting support to the Group Tax team.
Key responsibilities
- Provide tax advice to Finance teams and the broader business on proposed transactions, projects and strategic initiatives.
- Support the planning and delivery of key tax-related projects, including business integration activities.
- Ensure tax considerations are embedded early in commercial decision-making.
- Identify potential tax risks and contribute to the development, implementation and maintenance of the Group's tax risk management framework, aligned with ATO expectations.
- Ensure robust internal controls around tax processes and governance, including documentation, policies and procedures.
- Support the maintenance of the Group tax risk register.
- Proactively drive tax technology and automation initiatives,
from scoping and design through to execution and implementation across the business.
- Lead continuous improvement projects to streamline tax processes, enhance efficiency and improve the accuracy of tax reporting and compliance.
- Assist the Group Tax team with ad-hoc tax compliance and reporting activities.
- Contribute to the preparation of technical tax analysis and documentation to support tax positions.
About you
- Minimum 5 years of Australian tax experience in a corporate tax role, either within a large accounting firm or large corporate organisation.
- Postgraduate qualification such as CA, CPA or Masters of Tax.
- Strong knowledge of corporate and indirect taxes, as well as tax software and technology platforms.
- Proactive mindset with a focus on continuous improvement and problem-solving.
