Principal Technical Customer Success Manager — Australian Cyber Security | $150K-$180K base + up to $20K variable

Our client is an established, founder-led Australian cyber security firm — MDR, DFIR, GRC and Offensive Security, sovereign-owned — is pivoting hard into enterprise, government and higher education, and has just landed several major logos in that space.

They're creating a new senior seat to match: a Principal Technical Customer Success Manager owning the top ~10 strategic accounts.

This isn't a report-and-escalate CSM role. You'll sit in the room with CISOs and CIOs at some of the country's most regulated organisations, translate what the SOC and threat hunting teams are seeing into a narrative that actually matters to that specific client, and be the technical reason they stay before renewal is ever a conversation. No quota. No team to manage. Just deep account ownership and total autonomy over how you run it.

What you'll own

- The technical relationship across ~10 top-tier enterprise, government and education accounts — the named advisor CISOs call between formal reviews
- Monthly/quarterly business reviews that interpret data against the threat landscape, not just present it
- Surfacing control gaps and expansion opportunities to the commercial account manager (you spot it, they sell it — you're never the one closing)
- Renewal protection through technical credibility,

not through KPIs tied to revenue

What you'll need

- 5+ years in a senior customer-facing technical role — MDR/MSSP account management, customer success, pre-sales, senior detection engineering/threat hunting, GRC or cyber consulting, or in-house security leadership
- Genuine technical grounding in security operations (SIEM, detection engineering, threat hunting, or adjacent) — enough to hold your own on IAM, DLP, incident response and offensive security workflows
- Executive presence that's non-negotiable: comfortable running a QBR with a CISO or audit committee as a peer, not a reporter, and confident multi-threading across large, multi-stakeholder organisations (think universities, not a two-person IT team)
- Someone who can actually land an answer — this is about explicit, confident communication under senior scrutiny, not technical depth alone

Good to have

- Existing relationships across the Australian CISO/security community
- CISSP, CISM, GIAC or vendor architect-level credentials
- A public technical profile (speaking, writing, industry bodies)
- Experience in regulated sectors — financial services, government, critical infrastructure, healthcare or higher ed

Location: Melbourne preferred (hybrid, one anchor day), genuinely open to remote for the right person given the client base is national — some travel involved.
