We’re currently recruiting for a Technical Lead – Civil & Structural based in Melbourne for our client. The company is a growing EPC contractor delivering utility-scale renewable energy, Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) and high-voltage substation projects across Australia.
As part of a significant growth phase, they are seeking a Technical Lead – Civil & Structural to provide technical leadership across major energy infrastructure projects. This role will play a key part in developing internal engineering capability, driving design excellence and supporting the delivery of complex BESS, solar and substation projects from concept through to construction.
Responsibilities
- Provide technical leadership across civil and structural engineering throughout all stages of project delivery, from concept design through to construction support.
- Lead the design, review and approval of civil and structural engineering deliverables for BESS facilities, solar farms, substations and associated electrical balance of plant infrastructure.
- Drive design optimisation, constructability reviews and value engineering initiatives.
- Coordinate with electrical, geotechnical and project delivery teams to ensure integrated multidisciplinary design solutions.
- Review engineering calculations, specifications, reports and design documentation.
- Lead technical risk assessments, design reviews and compliance activities.
- Provide technical oversight,
mentoring and support to civil and structural engineers and designers.
- Support project delivery and construction teams by resolving technical queries and site-related issues.
- Contribute to the development of engineering standards, processes, quality systems and best-practice methodologies.
Required Experience
- Extensive experience delivering civil and/or structural engineering design for utility-scale energy infrastructure projects.
- Demonstrated experience working on BESS, solar and/or substation projects.
- Strong understanding of civil and structural design requirements associated with HV substations, collector substations, switchyards, equipment foundations and grid connection infrastructure.
- Experience working within EPC, Design & Construct or Engineering Consultancy project environments.
- Proven experience providing technical leadership across multidisciplinary engineering teams.
- Robust working knowledge of Australian Standards, relevant engineering codes and utility requirements.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to provide technical oversight across both civil and structural engineering disciplines.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
- Chartered Engineer – CPEng (preferred not essential)
- RPEQ, RPEV or equivalent registration (preferred not essential)
