The Faculty of Science are looking to backfill a Technical Services Manager (Analytical) position for a period of up to 18 months.

About the role The Technical Services Manager (Analytical) leads a discipline-based Technical Services team delivering safe, reliable and customer-focused support across shared analytical facilities, specialist instrumentation platforms, laboratories and teaching spaces. The role is accountable for operational performance, people leadership, workforce planning and resource management, ensuring services support high-quality teaching, research and external engagement outcomes. The position oversees grouped analytical capabilities, manages the lifecycle and performance of high-value instrumentation, and drives service excellence through strategic planning, stakeholder engagement and effective management of technical resources, vendor relationships and service delivery.

Major responsibilities for the role entail:

- Technical and service management
- Health and safety compliance
- Financial and budget responsibilities
- External and internal stakeholder engagements.

About You To be successful in the role, you will need to demonstrate:

- Extensive proven technical management expertise in a relevant discipline.
- Post graduate qualification in a related discipline and solid people management experience; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience, education, training.
- Knowledge of university and higher education environment in the delivery of operational and service delivery goals.
- Sound organisational skills, time management skills and ability to remain focused on priorities and critical deadlines.
- Ability to provide leadership and direction to staff including the capacity to ensure staff members are developed to their full potential.
- Demonstrated ability to apply legislation in a work environment.




- Higher order judgement and negotiation skills in order to achieve positive results for the university, as well as excellent conflict resolution skills.
- Demonstrated knowledge of shared analytical facility operations, instrument lifecycle management, and client service/cost recovery models
- Proven ability to deliver strategic projects and priorities whilst maintaining an organisational- wide
- holistic view
- Experience in ensuring health and safety, and risk management practices are in place within a complex technical environment.

Remuneration & Advantages

Base Salary Range: $146,657 to $153,642 per annum (HEW 9)

This role attracts 17% superannuation in addition to the base salary.

This position is full time and an appointment will be made on a fixed-term basis for approximately 18 months (to backfill staff secondment). The successful candidate will be expected to work full time onsite at UTS Broadway Sydney campus.
