We're a busy metal fabrication workshop looking for a reliable Yardhand / Trades Assistant to keep our yard running smoothly and support our tradesmen on the floor. If you've got your forklift licence, know your way around a saw, and take pride in a clean, well-organised workspace, we want to hear from you.
Key responsibilities
- Operating the forklift to load and unload trucks
- Cutting steel sections to size using a saw
- Packing fabricated steel sections ready for dispatch
- Assisting with painting of fabricated steel sections
- Keeping the yard clean, tidy and well organised so our tradesmen can get on with the job without delays
- General labouring and support duties around the workshop as needed
About you
- Current forklift licence (LF) — essential
- Experience operating a drop saw / cold saw to cut steel sections
- Physically fit and comfortable with manual, hands-on work
- A safety-first attitude and comfortable following workshop safety procedures
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work well as part of a small team
- Own transport
- Previous experience in a metal fabrication, steel, or trades-based yard (desirable)
- Experience with spray painting or prep for painting (desirable)
