Introduction - About Skate Australia
Skate Australia Ltd. is the recognised National Sporting Organisation (NSO) for skateboarding and skate sports in Australia. We are officially recognised by the Australian Sports Commission and the Australian Olympic Committee. With a Vision of; “by 2032, the spirit of One Skate, Many Stories powers a national skate movement of 250,000 Australians - from playground to podium”, our role is to lead the growth, performance, development, and integrity of skateboarding and skate sports nationally - from grassroots participation to elite international representation - by supporting our athletes, clubs, coaches, and officials across all levels of the sports.
Skate Australia guided by our Values & Behaviours-Our 5 C’s: Collaboration, Courage, Creativity, Curiosity and Celebration - these define how we want to work, how we engage with our community and partners, and the culture we want to build.
Ahead of our 2026 Annual General Meeting, the organisation is seeking nominations from experienced Directors for available positions on the Skate Australia Board.
The Board of Directors
Skate Australia is led by a skills-based board of elected and appointed directors. The Board’s role encompasses the governance of the organisation and to provide strategic leadership.
Skate Australia strives to support and promote excellence in board service through the recruitment of qualified, experienced directors from diverse backgrounds.
We want members of the Skate Australia Board to be advocates for skateboarding and skate sports across all key strategic imperatives. We want people who can question and challenge constructively, who bring diverse views, who can influence others and find solutions. Skate Australia is committed to having a diverse and inclusive culture on our Board, in our organisation and in our sports.
Director positions are voluntary. Board meetings are held on a 6-weekly basis via video conference with occasional face-to-face meetings and other activities as needed. Board Directors are also expected to contribute to at least one (1) Sub-Committee/Working Group, relevant to their skills, experience and requirements of the Board at any time.
The Skate Australia Board is established by the Skate Australia Constitution as a skills-based board comprised of not less than six and not more than nine directors who collectively have the skills, knowledge, experience, and attributes to effectively govern the organisation. In line with gender equity commitments, no single gender should consist of more than 50%.
With the support of the Skate Australia Nominations Committee (NomCo) and in accordance with the Skate Australia Constitution, any elected positions will be voted on by voting members at the AGM. Any appointed positions will be recommended to the Board by the NomCo after assessing the make up of the Board.
