Blacktown City Council

Blacktown

Serve with purpose. Grow through community.

Blacktown City is one of Australia’s most diverse and fastest-growing communities. As part of our Social Planning team, you help shape how Council responds to community needs by providing the evidence, research and advice that supports services, facilities and future planning.

As Social Planning Officer - Policy, you manage demographic information, contribute to Blacktown City’s Social Profile and analyse data to identify community trends and priorities. You undertake social research, community consultation and social impact assessments, and provide advice on development proposals, social infrastructure planning and community safety issues. You conduct Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) assessments, prepare reports and policy documents, and work with Council teams, community organisations and the human services sector to support coordinated responses to local needs.

Your work helps Council plan services and facilities that support the wellbeing, safety and inclusion of residents. You provide practical advice based on evidence, advocate for better outcomes for the community and contribute to projects that improve liveability across Blacktown City.

You bring experience in social or community planning, strong analytical and negotiation skills,

and the ability to provide clear, evidence-based advice on community needs, social infrastructure and planning proposals.

At Blacktown City Council, good people make great teams, and great teams build great cities. Here, you will find the stability and support to keep growing, along with:

- a secure, permanent, full-time role with one of Australia's largest councils
- an entry level salary commencing at $1,940.24 per week
- a 35-hour working week
- a car allowance
- access to Council's flextime arrangement
