About the Role
Are you a passionate fashion educator who thrives on creativity, innovation and making a difference to student learning? This is an exciting opportunity to join a fast-growing fashion program and contribute to the next phase of Swinburne University of Technology’s Bachelor of Design (Fashion) program.

As a Lecturer (Education Specialist) within the School of Design and Architecture, you will play a pivotal role in creating inspiring, industry-connected learning experiences that equip our students with the skills, confidence and creativity to succeed in a rapidly evolving fashion industry.

You’ll bring your expertise across areas such as sewing, pattern making, draping, garment construction, sustainability and digital fashion technologies, delivering contemporary and engaging learning experiences that challenge students to think creatively and push the boundaries of fashion design.

More than a teaching role, this is an opportunity to shape the student experience and join a passionate and expanding academic community committed to redefining the future of fashion education. You’ll contribute to curriculum innovation, champion inclusive and engaging teaching practices, mentor colleagues and help build a culture of educational excellence across the discipline.

Please note that this is a fixed-term opportunity due to leave coverage. While this appointment is fixed term, it offers an excellent opportunity to join a growing Fashion team, contribute to the discipline's continued development, and build relationships across teaching and industry engagement activities.

About You
We’re looking for an educator who is curious, collaborative and passionate about creating meaningful learning experiences. You’ll have demonstrated expertise in fashion design, combined with a strong understanding of contemporary pedagogy and a commitment to student success.

You will bring:

- Strong teaching expertise, with a transparent approach to teaching, continuous improvement and student learning.
- Experience designing and delivering engaging learning and assessment experiences that support student success.
- Strong fashion design expertise, including traditional techniques and digital technologies.




- A commitment to inclusive and collaborative teaching, including supporting colleagues and mentoring sessional staff.
- Strong industry and professional connections, with an understanding of how these can inform curriculum, graduate employability and quality teaching practices.

Qualifications
A PhD in a relevant discipline, or a Master’s level qualification in tertiary education. In exceptional circumstances, equivalent professional experience may be considered.
