The Opportunity
ROUSSOS Recruitment is partnering with an established commercial builder with a strong reputation across the South Australian construction market.
With a healthy pipeline of opportunities across commercial, education, health, hospitality and multi-residential construction, the business is looking to appoint an experienced Estimating Manager to lead its pre-construction and estimating function.
This is a senior leadership opportunity for someone who understands the Adelaide commercial market, enjoys developing people and can balance the technical detail of estimating with the broader commercial strategy required to secure the right projects.
The Role
As Estimating Manager, you will oversee the estimating function while remaining actively involved in major tenders. Working closely with senior leadership and project delivery teams, you will help determine which opportunities the business pursues and how they are positioned to win.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading and managing the estimating team across multiple tenders
- Overseeing tenders from initial review through to submission and handover
- Developing tender strategies in collaboration with senior leadership
- Reviewing cost plans, estimates, scopes and tender submissions
- Managing subcontractor and supplier engagement and ensuring robust market coverage
- Identifying commercial risks, opportunities and value management initiatives
- Leading tender reviews, interviews, clarifications and negotiations
- Maintaining strong relationships with clients, consultants and subcontractors
- Mentoring and developing Estimators within the team
- Working closely with delivery teams to ensure effective project handovers
- Contributing to pipeline planning and broader business development strategy
The Like Mind
You will be an experienced Estimating Manager, Senior Estimator or Pre-Construction professional with a strong background in commercial construction and the capability to step into a leadership position.
You will ideally bring:
- Significant estimating experience within a commercial head contractor
- Proven experience across medium to large-scale new build projects
- Strong knowledge of tendering, cost planning and construction methodologies
- Experience leading complex tenders and coordinating estimating resources
- Strong commercial acumen and an understanding of project risk
- Established relationships across the local subcontractor and consultant market
- The ability to mentor and develop team members
- Strong communication, negotiation and stakeholder management skills
- A collaborative leadership style and ability to work closely with senior decision-makers
