About the role
The Suicide Prevention Coordinator provides high-level social work, psychology or occupational therapy expertise to lead and coordinate the implementation, evaluation and sustainability of suicide prevention initiatives across Metro North Mental Health. The role supports the implementation of the Zero Suicide in Healthcare Framework and works collaboratively with clinical leaders, multidisciplinary teams and key stakeholders to strengthen evidence-based, recovery-oriented and safety-focused approaches to suicide prevention.
The successful candidate will develop and deliver clinical education programs, support workforce capability building, promote best practice suicide risk assessment and intervention, and contribute to service improvement activities that enhance consumer outcomes. Working closely with consumers, carers, lived experience representatives and clinical teams, the role helps embed consistent, coordinated and evidence-informed suicide prevention practices across Metro North Mental Health.
About you
Our ideal candidate will be someone who can carry out the following key accountabilities in accordance with the Metro North Health's values:
- Lead and coordinate suicide prevention education, training and workforce capability initiatives aligned with the Zero Suicide in Healthcare Framework.
- Develop, deliver and evaluate evidence-based clinical education programs that strengthen assessment, intervention, care coordination and safety planning practices.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, consumers, carers and stakeholders to promote recovery-oriented, trauma-informed and person-centred approaches to care.
- Provide leadership in quality improvement, service evaluation and implementation activities that enhance suicide prevention outcomes across Metro North Mental Health.
- Support clinical supervision, professional development and the translation of evidence-based suicide prevention practices into everyday clinical care.
