This is a hands-on position focused on operating, servicing and looking after farm machinery and equipment. You will operate tractors, loaders, trucks and other agricultural machinery while ensuring equipment is kept clean, safe and in good working order. The role includes general machinery servicing, such as completing pre-start checks, changing oils and filters, greasing equipment, replacing worn parts and identifying maintenance issues before they become larger problems. You will also assist with general farm duties when required. This is a varied role suited to someone who takes pride in looking after machinery and enjoys practical, hands-on work.
Key responsibilities
- Safely operate tractors, loaders, trucks and other farm machinery
- Carry out daily pre-start checks and routine equipment inspections
- Complete general servicing, including oil and filter changes and greasing
- Clean and maintain machinery, vehicles and farm equipment
- Monitor equipment condition and identify worn or damaged parts
- Replace basic parts and complete minor repairs when appropriate
- Report mechanical faults and arrange major repairs when required
- Maintain accurate servicing and maintenance records
- Keep the machinery workshop and work areas clean and organised
- Assist with general farm and livestock duties when required
To be successful in this role, you will ideally have:
- Previous experience operating tractors and agricultural machinery
- A current truck licence
- Experience driving trucks safely in a farm or rural workplace
- Good mechanical aptitude and an understanding of routine machinery servicing
- Confidence using hand and power tools
- The ability to complete pre-start checks and identify equipment problems
- A practical approach to maintenance and problem-solving
- A strong work ethic and pride in looking after machinery
- The ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Physical fitness and the ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions

Merivale Farms is seeking a reliable, practical and mechanically minded Farm Machinery Operator and Maintenance Hand to join our team at our property in Bell, Queensland.
Hours
- Monday to Thursday: 7:30 am–4:00 pm
- Friday: 7:30 am–2:00 pm
- Morning tea break: 15 minutes
- Lunch break: 30 minutes
- Every third weekend: Approximately three hours on Saturday and Sunday for essential farm and livestock duties
