Life at Steadfast

As Australia’s largest general insurance broker network, we help businesses and communities feel supported, protected and confident in the moments that matter. When you join Steadfast, you become part of a team where your ideas are welcomed, your wellbeing matters, and your growth is genuinely encouraged.
Your new role at Steadfast
We are looking for a Financial Accountant who enjoys turning financial data into clear insights, supporting stakeholders and improving the way things are done. You will bring strong technical accounting capability, curiosity, care and close attention to detail.
Reporting to the Finance Manager or Senior Finance Manager, you will manage financial reporting and accounting support for a portfolio of investees. You will work closely with the Operations team, management and investee stakeholders to support month-end, statutory reporting, tax requirements, acquisitions and other finance initiatives.
What your days may look like
You may start your morning reviewing financial data from your portfolio of investees, following up on emerging issues and preparing analysis and commentary on significant events or variances. You could then work with the Operations team or management to clarify results and support informed decisions.
Later in the day, you might complete balance sheet reconciliations, prepare tax journals and returns, support the accounting integration of a new acquisition, or contribute to half-year and year-end reporting. You may also help improve a process or support an ad-hoc finance, accounting or tax project.
The work you will lead and shape
You’ll have the opportunity to:
- Create: Build meaningful financial insights and reporting that support informed business decisions across Steadfast's investment portfolio.
- Collaborate: Partner with investees, finance colleagues, management and operational stakeholders to deliver accurate and timely financial outcomes.
- Challenge: Analyse financial results,
investigate variances and identify opportunities to improve processes, controls and reporting quality.
- Deliver: Take ownership of month-end activities, balance sheet reconciliations, tax compliance and reporting obligations for a portfolio of investees.
- Support: Provide accounting and tax guidance to investees and contribute to due diligence, acquisition integration and other strategic finance initiatives.
You may also:
- Develop accounting processes and reporting frameworks that improve accuracy, efficiency and consistency.
- Maintain financial records, reconciliations and supporting documentation across assigned entities.
- Build insights through financial analysis, variance reporting and commentary on significant business events.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives, including automation, system enhancements and process optimisation.
- Prepare tax returns, financial reports, management analysis and documentation to support governance and decision making.
What You will Bring
A relevant degree and CA or CPA qualification, supported by a strong academic record.
- At least three years of relevant post-graduation experience.
- High professional standards and exceptional attention to detail.
- A self-motivated and energetic approach, with the ability to manage priorities and meet deadlines.
- Proven ability to thrive in a dynamic team environment while also working autonomously.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
- Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills and proficiency across Microsoft Office.
- Experience with SAP is desirable.
- Experience within a Big Four or mid-tier chartered accounting firm is preferred.
If you are not sure you meet every requirement, we encourage you to apply, we value potential and diverse experiences.
