The role
We are seeking an experienced water engineer to join our growing Brisbane-based team.
Reporting to the Discipline Lead, you will contribute to a diverse range of mining projects from feasibility through to closure and monitoring, working collaboratively with engineers, scientists, project managers, clients and other stakeholders.
This is an exciting opportunity for a technical professional who enjoys solving water management challenges and wants to work across disciplines within a growing consultancy.
Key responsibilities include:
- Hydrogeological assessments and groundwater analysis, modelling and design.
- Surface water hydrological and hydraulic analysis, modelling and design.
- Site water management and water balance modelling.
- Water resource assessments, engineering and design.
- Preparing technical reports including design and construction packages for water management infrastructure.
- Contributing to projects across the full mine life cycle.
- Developing practical and cutting-edge solutions for mining clients.
About you
You will be tertiary qualified in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Water Resources Engineering, Hydrogeology, Hydrology or a related discipline, with 3–5 years' relevant experience.
You will have demonstrated professional experience across groundwater/hydrogeology, surface hydrological and hydraulic modelling and design, water balance modelling, and civils design, preferably within the mining and minerals sector, together with a strong understanding of the mining life cycle. You will bring experience within a consulting engineering or technical environment, robust analytical, problem-solving and technical reporting skills, and excellent communication and collaboration capabilities.
Experience with modelling tools such as MODFLOW, HEC-HMS/URBS/RORB, HEC-RAS, TUFLOW and GoldSim will be highly regarded, as will experience in mine water management, flood assessment, water balance modelling, GIS and data analysis. Experience in mine closure and post-closure water management would be advantageous. Above all, you will demonstrate a genuine passion for the mining and minerals sector, a proactive and accountable approach, and a commitment to delivering high-quality outcomes for clients.
