The Role

We're excited to offer opportunities for Disability Support Workers to join us on a casual basis. You will be involved in supporting clients across our ogranisation - in their homes, in the community, or at our Inclusion services day program.

We're interested in candidates who have a reliable and consistent availability and may be able to accept a variety of shifts across the 7-day week.

We require workers who may be able to work shorter shifts (as short as 4 hours), as well as some longer shifts (8-10 hours in length or sleepovers) and/ or a combination of these.

As a casual employee, shifts will fluctuate depending on the needs of the organisation.

As a Disability Support Worker, you will provide high-quality, person-centred support to our clients, helping them to live, work, play, and grow within the community. Your role will involve assisting with daily activities, promoting independence, and encouraging engagement in meaningful activities.

Position Purpose





The purpose of a disability support worker is to support people with physical and/or intellectual disabilities to achieve their goals and aspirations.

Key accountabilities and responsibilities

- Work under the direction of others and apply your skills to meet client personal needs and person-centred goals in accordance with the NDIS Practice Standards & Quality Indicators

- Comply with the NDIS Code of Conduct & Tulgeen Code of Conduct to support participants to meet their needs in ways that are respectful and inclusive

- Responding flexibly to participant preferences:

- Provide assistance with accessing the community including for shopping, medical visits, financial management, social inclusion programs and social outings

- Provide assistance with all aspects of daily life including personal, care, continence and hygiene, meal preparation, budgeting / financial responsibilities, domestic chores, transport and other needs according to clients’ goals.

- Provide emotional and social support

- Assist participants with medication

- Apply principles of positive behaviour support when supporting participants to implement their behaviour support plan

- Support participants to build the confidence and skills to develop social networks and connections

- At all times work cooperatively with other team members to achieve quality outcomes

- Maintain a clean and safe workplace, and comply with all role related health and safety policies and procedures

- Demonstrate punctuality and meet agreed schedules and timelines

- Adhere to organisation policies, procedures, and guidelines

- Complete other related tasks as reasonably requested

Essential requirements

- Current Drivers Licence

- NDIS Worker Check (NDISWC) or willingness to obtain

- First aid Certificate





Qualifications

- Completion of the following NDIS and NDS industry training or a willingness to complete prior to commencement

- NDIS Worker Orientation Module

- NDIS Supporting Effective Communication

- NDIS Supporting Protected & Enjoyable Meals

- NDS Understanding Abuse – Zero Tolerance

Essential skills or experience

- A history of proven client focused approach to service delivery

- Ability to work well within a busy team environment

- Basic IT skills (Word, Excel and email) and an ability to learn

- Competent verbal and written communication

- Organised and able to meet deadlines

- Demonstrates sensitivity & respect for diversity of clients and colleagues

- Respects client and co-worker confidentiality and dignity in all interactions

Performance Requirements

- Consistently complete scheduled and directed tasks on time

- Develop a basic understanding of and adhere to organisational policies and procedures

- Develop practical knowledge of human rights and person-centered approaches to supporting people with disability

- Develop an awareness of diversity and confidentiality requirements for the role

- Maintain practical knowledge of person-centered approaches

- Consistently demonstrate punctuality and meet agreed schedules and timelines

- Consistently comply with Tulgeen Code of Conduct and the NDIS Code of Conduct

- Take full responsibility for all duties and performance requirements as defined for the role
