Due to continued growth and expansion, an exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and highly professional SMSF Accountant to join this dynamic and supportive team. About the Role
As the SMSF Accountant you will be responsible for managing the accounting, compliance, taxation, and reporting requirements of Self-Managed Superannuation Funds (SMSFs). Reporting to the Partners of the firm, you will foster long-term client relationships built on trust, open and honest communication, responsibility, and commitment.
With a "listen, explore and solve" mentality, you will provide high-quality advice and support, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements while delivering exceptional client service.
The role involves preparing financial statements and tax returns, ensuring compliance with ATO and superannuation regulations, liaising with auditors and trustees, and providing accurate,
timely advice to support effective fund administration and retirement planning outcomes
Core Responsibilities
- Build and maintain strong, trusted relationships through regular client contact and engagement.
- Prepare financial statements and income tax returns for a portfolio of Self-Managed Superannuation Funds (SMSFs).
- Prepare and review Business Activity Statements (BAS) and Instalment Activity Statements (IAS) for SMSFs.
- Assist with the completion and coordination of annual fund audits.
- Provide technical guidance and support to both clients and team members on SMSF-related matters.
- Deliver proactive advice regarding year-end tax planning and compliance opportunities.
- Liaise effectively with trustees and the firm's extensive network of financial planners, solicitors, real estate professionals, and mortgage brokers.
- Monitor legislative and regulatory changes to ensure ongoing compliance and best-practice outcomes for clients.
- Support clients in achieving their long-term retirement and wealth management objectives through high-quality service and advice.
Skills & Experience
- Minimum 3- 5 years' experience as an SMSF Accountant within a public practice environment.
- CA or CPA qualified (or currently working towards completion) is highly regarded.
- Strong technical knowledge of SMSF accounting,
taxation, and compliance requirements.
- Demonstrated ability to manage client relationships and provide exceptional client service.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience using Class, CAS 360 and BGL software.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to effectively prioritise workload and meet deadlines.
- A proactive, hardworking, and solutions-focused approach.
- Passionate about continuous learning, professional development, and delivering high-quality outcomes.
