Spicers Clovelly Estate is seeking it's next Retreat Manager!

Reporting to the Regional General Manager, you will be responsible for the overall management of the property; developing and implementing business strategy; and delivering budgeted growth, revenue and profit targets.

As our new Retreat Manager you will be well versed in all aspects of hotel operations and will be an integral part of delivering our bespoke and personalised experience to our guests. Pivotal for this role will be an in depth understanding and extensive experience in food and beverage, as well as being a passionate people person, who has a real eye for detail, can think on their feet to problem solve and who is not afraid to be hands on.

The role and key duties;

- Champion the delivery of guest experiences that consistently uphold Spicers’ luxury standards across every touchpoint by anticipating needs, resolving issues promptly, and elevating the journey from arrival through to departure.

- Lead and develop a high‑performing team through effective coaching, training,



and performance development to ensure the team is engaged, skilled, and consistently aligned with service expectations.

- Manage financial performance, including budgeting, revenue targets, cost control, labour planning, and accurate monthly forecasting.

- Drive profitability across all business units, identifying opportunities to maximise revenue and optimise operational efficiency.

- Champion the retreat’s brand and marketing presence within the local community, ensuring consistent representation and alignment with Spicers’ brand values.

- Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including neighbours, local tourism bodies, suppliers, and community partners.

- Oversee risk management, including emergency procedures, incident reporting, and proactive measures to ensure guest and team safety.

Essential criteria required to be considered;

- Minimum of 1-2 years experience in a retreat / hotel manager position from within a luxury or boutique hotel environment.

- Solid experience in food & beverage;

- A high level of business acumen; strong understanding of COGS, business expenses and managing P&L;'s;

- You must understand how to operate and market your own business and maximise revenue across all departments;

- Have the passion, energy and enthusiasm along with proven ability to lead and motivate a dedicated and culturally diverse team;

- Excellent communication skills, a professional and friendly demeanour;

- Willingness to tackle every aspect of the business with a hands-on approach and a positive attitude.
