An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Public or Administrative Law practitioner to join a highly regarded Melbourne Public Law practice at Senior Associate level.
This is a newly created position following an increase in work from a key government client. Working closely with two experienced Partners and a broader team of senior lawyers, you will act for a range of government departments, agencies and statutory bodies across public law, regulatory and litigation matters.
A particular focus of the role will be Serious Offender Act applications, together with a broader mix of work including:
- representing government clients in court and tribunal proceedings;
- prosecutions, disciplinary and enforcement matters;
- coronial investigations and inquests;
- merits and judicial review proceedings;
- advising on investigations and the exercise of regulatory and enforcement powers; and
- reviewing evidence and preparing advice in relation to criminal and disciplinary proceedings.
The position would suit a lawyer who enjoys having a mix of advisory and contentious work within their practice and wants to remain actively involved in litigation,
advocacy and appearing on behalf of clients.
To be considered, you'll bring 5+ years' PAE gained within Public Law, Administrative Law, regulatory litigation or a related government practice. You don't need to bring experience across every aspect of the role, with the Partners open to someone who has a solid foundation and is interested in continuing to broaden their expertise.
You will be joining an established practice with considerable depth at Partner and senior lawyer level, providing access to solid mentoring and ongoing career development. The firm is also known for its supportive culture and offers considerable flexibility around hybrid working and hours, together with a broad range of professional development, wellbeing and study benefits.
