At Jackson McDonald you will work on matters with genuine purpose in our highly regarded Corporate Commercial team. This role will, in particular, support our First Nations clients throughout WA and beyond.
A Role with Purpose
We are seeking a lawyer with approximately 1-2 years post-admission experience to join our team on a permanent, full-time basis. Working closely with our Partner, Emma Chinnery, you will work on a range of matters to ensure client compliance with regulatory requirements, whilst balancing commercial and strategic objectives.
You will act as a trusted advisor with clients including prescribed bodies corporate, Aboriginal community-controlled organisations, Aboriginal businesses, Aboriginal community perks trusts, trustee companies and government bodies. Ultimately, you will be working towards the advancement of First Nations communities and their organisations, along with our other not-for-profit clients.
You will advise clients on variety of matters, including:
- Corporate governance and compliance;
- Corporate structuring;
- Constitution and rule book reviews;
- Directors' duties and conduct matters;
- General commercial contracting and transactions;
- Trust deeds and policies; and
- The interpretation and application of the Corporations (Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander) Act 2006 (Cth).
What We’re Looking For
You'll combine strong technical skills with sound judgment and a genuine interest in building trusted client relationships.
Our ideal candidate will also be able to demonstrate the following:
- A minimum of 1.5 years post-admission experience, specifically in corporate and commercial front-end work;
- A genuine interest in supporting the advancement of First Nations communities and their organisations;
- High legal standards,
with a focus on accuracy and attention to detail;
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
- Strong organisational skills with the ability and commitment to meet deadlines and manage competing priorities; and
- A collaborative attitude and approach and desire to learn.
