We are seeking an experienced senior practitioner to join a government department focused on supporting people with reduced decision-making capacity to achieve the best possible outcomes through guardianship, advocacy and person-centred decision making.
This is an opportunity to work across complex guardianship matters, advocating for the rights, dignity, choices and wishes of customers while collaborating with families, carers, service providers, health professionals and government agencies.

- $68.64 per hour + super + salary packaging (increase your takehome pay)
- Contract until 31st December 2026
- Based in Wollongong
- Full time office-based training and onboarding for the first month
- WFH arrangements to be negotiated with the manager following training

Key responsibilities
- Develop and implement decision-making plans and maintain accurate customer records
- Advocate for customers and support positive outcomes across complex matters
- Prepare reports, submissions and recommendations for senior officers, the Public Guardian and NCAT
- Make decisions within delegated authority and relevant legislation, policies and standards
- Support Guardians and staff with complex cases and provide advice and direction
- Collaborate with families, carers, professionals, service providers and government agencies
- Conduct visits to people represented by the Public Guardian
- Build strong knowledge of local services and support infrastructure
About you
- A relevant degree in social, health,
behavioural sciences or related discipline, or equivalent experience
- Experience working with people experiencing vulnerability, disability or complex support needs
- Strong advocacy, assessment, decision-making and case management skills
- Demonstrated ability to manage complex or contentious matters with empathy, objectivity and sound judgement
- Ability to travel throughout NSW on occasion
- Current driver's licence
- Ability to successfully complete required employment checks, including two references, Police Check via Fit2Work
